16/ SSC says 1.655m active subscribers under social protection system
Amman, April 29 (Petra) – The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced the number of active subscribers under its umbrella has exceeded 1.655 million insured individuals, including 1.4 million Jordanians and approximately 255,000 of other nationalities. In a statement issued Wednesday, the SSC extended its appreciation and pride to all workers in the Kingdom on the occasion of International Workers' Day, which falls on May 1 annually. The corporation called for providing all workers with social protection and a secure working environment. The corporation referred to income security provided for eligible working individuals and their families for old-age, disability, death, unemployment, or maternity benefits, as well as protection against work-related injuries. The corporation also indicated that the cumulative number of retirees has reached approximately 404,000, including more than 274,000 active pensioners, while the number of active female retirees stood at 66,455. The SSC noted a total of approximately 175,000 eligible heirs are entitled to receive active pension shares, bringing the total number of active retirees and beneficiaries to over 449,000. The corporation urged all operating establishments to cover all their employees under the provisions of the Social Security Law for their entire periods of employment and actual wages, regardless of their number to disburse a pension for all workers. The corporation also highlighted the role of maternity insurance in supporting and enhancing the economic participation of working women in the private sector. In this context, the number of disbursed maternity allowances exceeded 129,000, benefiting 88,258 insured women. Referring to expansion of SSC's related protection programs under the "Care" program, the corporation said this process contributed to supporting childcare through nurseries and home care services, as 29,500 insured women benefited from this program. //Petra// AG More...
