10/ NCSCM urges increased preparedness to prevent summer grass fires

Amman, April 29 (Petra) – National Center For Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) called for increasing preparedness and implementing necessary proactive measures to prevent grass fires, especially given the current regional circumstances and the possibility of their spread.

In a statement Wednesday, the center noted the approaching summer season, with its accompanying rise in temperatures and dry vegetation, increases fire occurrence.

This situation requires government institutions adhere to the highest public safety standards to protect lives, property, and forest resources, the center said.

NCSCM also called for complying with required procedures, mainly weed removal campaigns by deploying all available means of relevant ministries and institutions, particularly near vital facilities.

Noting role of intensifying national awareness campaigns, the center called for continuously guiding picnickers and tourists to strictly adhere to public safety procedures in picnic areas.

The center noted the importance of establishing firebreaks in forests and picnic areas using appropriate equipment and raising preparedness level among relevant authorities.

The center underscored the need to ensure a "swift and effective" response to any potential emergencies.

It also stressed the importance of setting up fire stations readily available near forests and recreational areas for emergencies.

To ensure success, the center urges strengthened coordination of relevant agencies with the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)– the Arab Army to leverage the army's available firefighting capabilities and equipment.
