50/ Queen Alia Airport expands network with four new destinations in Q1 2026

Amman, April 28 (Petra) -- Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has successfully expanded its global connectivity during the first quarter of 2026, launching four new routes in collaboration with the national carrier, Royal Jordanian (RJ).

The new destinations connect Amman to Misrata (Libya), Munich and Hamburg (Germany), and Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). While Misrata, Munich, and Hamburg are entirely new additions to the airport’s broader network, the Sharjah route represents a new strategic addition specifically for Royal Jordanian.

The move has reinforced Jordan’s position on the global air connectivity map by strengthening links with key hubs in the Gulf, Europe, and North Africa, supporting its competitiveness as a destination for business and leisure tourism.

Nicolas Deviller, CEO of Airport International Group (AIG), said: "Despite the complex regional environment witnessed during the first quarter of 2026, Queen Alia International Airport demonstrated consistent and reliable performance, maintaining full operations at a time when many airports in the region were forced to suspend activities due to regional conditions, fulfilling its role as a dependable air gateway for the region. This continuity reflects our operational efficiency and resilience, and our role as a stable aviation hub amid a shifting regional landscape."

Deviller added that the airport has continued to serve as a stable, highly prepared regional gateway, supporting national ambitions in tourism, trade and international cooperation. AIG remains committed to enhancing the passenger experience and maintaining the airport’s position as Jordan’s primary air gateway, driven by its ability to adapt to market changes and its proactive efforts to attract new airline partners.
