40/ Awqaf Ministry, RJ sign 5-year transit agreement for Palestinian travelers
Amman, April 26 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs signed a cooperation agreement with Royal Jordanian Airlines on Sunday to streamline travel for passengers arriving from the West Bank and the 1948 territories. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Khalaileh and Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine. Under the five-year agreement, Royal Jordanian will lease a dedicated facility within the Ghor Nimrin pilgrims’ terminal near the King Hussein Bridge. The building will serve as an advanced logistics hub providing integrated services for travelers, including those from the interior Palestinian territories, to facilitate smoother transit and check-in procedures. The project specifically aims to ease the movement of passengers during the peak Hajj and Umrah seasons, reducing congestion and enhancing the overall travel experience for those transiting through Jordan. The agreement was signed by Majdi Al Btoush, Director General of the Department of Hajj and Umrah, and Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. //Petra// AF
