Beirut, April 24 (Petra) – The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Friday the death of a member of the Indonesian contingent after succumbing to injuries sustained in an explosion caused by an un exploded projectile at a UNIFIL base in the southern Lebanese town of Adshit Al-Qusayr.

In a statement, UNIFIL called on all parties to fulfill their obligations under international law and to ensure the safety and security of United Nations personnel and property at all times.

The force stressed that deliberate attacks against peacekeepers constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, warning that such acts could amount to war crimes.
