11/ Ajloun Sees Surge in Tourism Activity as Occupancy Reaches 100% at Key Sites

Ajloun, Apr. 24 (Petra)-- Ajloun Governorate witnessed strong tourism activity on Friday, with visitors flocking to natural, archaeological, and recreational sites, while occupancy rates at several tourism facilities and attractions reached 100 percent.

Director of Ajloun Antiquities Department, Mohammad Al-Khawaldeh, said the governorate’s historical landmarks most notably Ajloun Castle, Rasoun, and the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain received large numbers of visitors.

He noted that the strong tourism movement reflects the historical and archaeological significance of these sites, which offer visitors a unique cultural and educational experience.
Director of the Ajloun Development Area, Tareq Al-Maaytah, said that the Ajloun Cable Car also witnessed high visitor turnout, alongside a rise in occupancy rates across the area’s tourism facilities.

He explained that the development zone continues to provide integrated services that help boost domestic tourism and attract visitors from across Jordan’s governorates as well as from abroad.

Meanwhile, Director of the Ajloun Forest Reserve Biosphere Reserve, Odai Al-Qudah, said the reserve also recorded remarkable activity from nature lovers and day-trippers, with occupancy reaching 100 percent.

He stressed that this growing demand highlights the reserve’s status as a major eco-tourism destination and underlines the need to intensify efforts to protect these sites and strengthen environmental programs that benefit both visitors and the local community.

Hussein Al-Momani, a member of the "Environment Brings Us Together" initiative, emphasized the importance of cooperation among relevant authorities to preserve the cleanliness of tourist and natural sites.

He urged visitors not to leave waste behind or light fires that could threaten the environment and damage the beauty of the area.
