6/ Jordan–Germany Steering Committee Holds First Meeting on Labor Mobility
Amman, April 23 (Petra) -- The Jordanian-German steering committee on labor mobility cooperation held its first meeting on Thursday, chaired by Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar, to advance joint efforts in skills development and employment. The meeting was attended by German Ambassador Bertram von Moltke, senior government officials, and representatives from both sides, including the director of GIZ in Jordan. Discussions focused on preparing Jordanian youth in line with the requirements of the German labor market, as well as enhancing coordination mechanisms within the framework of the bilateral partnership. Participants also reviewed plans to establish specialized technical committees for each project to provide periodic progress reports. Al-Bakkar said the partnership reflects the depth of relations between the two countries and aligns with government priorities to create quality employment opportunities and strengthen vocational and technical education systems. He noted that recent progress includes the launch of the Jordanian-German Center for Labor Mobility, the provision of integrated training and guidance services, and efforts to connect Jordanian youth with training and employment opportunities in Germany. He added that the next phase will focus on strengthening the partnership and moving toward long-term sustainability. For his part, Ambassador von Moltke said the partnership serves mutual interests by supporting employment opportunities for skilled Jordanian workers while helping meet labor market needs in Germany. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation to overcome challenges and achieve shared objectives. The committee was established by the Cabinet and includes representatives from relevant ministries, academic institutions, and vocational training bodies from both countries. //Petra// RZ
