Amman, April 22 (Petra) -- The Mexican Embassy in Jordan hosted a briefing for local travel and tourism agencies on Tuesday to outline logistical and promotional arrangements for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

The session served as a strategic platform for the Jordanian travel sector to prepare for an expected surge in bookings, bolstered by the Jordan national team’s historic first-ever qualification for the World Cup finals.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Jacob Prado Gonz?lez affirmed Mexico’s readiness to welcome global football fans, highlighting the country’s advanced infrastructure and diverse cultural offerings. He specifically noted the readiness of Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, which will host matches at the Azteca, Akron, and BBVA stadiums, respectively.

The ambassador detailed several landmark attractions in the host cities, including Mexico City’s Templo Mayor, Zocalo Square, and Chapultepec Park, as well as the ancient city of Teotihuacan and the National Museum of Anthropology. He also showcased Guadalajara’s historic center and the town of Tequila, alongside Monterrey’s urban and natural sites such as Fundidora Park and the Santa Lucia Riverwalk.

Gonz?lez confirmed that the tournament’s opening match will take place on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium, which is set to become the first venue in history to host three World Cup opening matches.

Addressing administrative procedures, the embassy’s consular department delivered a presentation on visa requirements, application processes, and specific entry arrangements designated for the duration of the tournament.

The session concluded with an open dialogue to address inquiries from industry representatives.

Mexico is scheduled to host 13 matches during the tournament, which will be the largest in FIFA history with 48 participating teams.
