  34/ Anti-Narcotics Department foils multiple drug trafficking attempts

Amman, April 22 (Petra) -- The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), in coordination with security bodies, carried out a joint operation in Ruwaished district, targeting individuals suspected of drug smuggling via airborne balloons, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said.

The PSD's media spokesperson said six suspects were arrested in raids in seven locations, and quantities of narcotic pills, smuggling balloons, and firearms were seized.

Among those apprehended was a highly dangerous person, a second man in possession of 20,000 drug pills and a third with 5,000 pills.

In Balqa Governorate, four wanted drug traffickers were arrested, including a dangerous suspect, and quantities of narcotics and firearms were seized, he said.

In Karak Governorate, security forces raided a location of a dangerous drug dealer after intelligence gathering, arresting him and seizing 1,100 narcotic pills and a firearm.

In Amman, two crystal meth dealers were nabbed and quantities of the drug and 1,000 narcotic pills in their possession were seized.

In Madaba Governorate, a drug dealer was arrested in his vehicle, where officers seized 1 kilogram of crystal meth and 30 hashish packages, according to the spokesman.
