33/ Royal Court Chief inaugurates Royal Initiative projects in Ajloun
Ajloun, April 22 (Petra) – As part of field monitoring of Royal Initiative projects, Chief of the Royal Court Yousef Issawi On Wednesday toured Ajloun Governorate, where he inaugurated and inspected a number of service facilities. These were launched in accordance with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II during his field visits and meetings with local residents of the northwestern governorate, aiming to improve the quality of services and living conditions. Issawi, who heads the committee overseeing implementation of Royal Initiative projects, began his tour in Osara district, where he inaugurated a fully-equipped, multi-purpose hall for the local community for social and cultural activities, national celebrations, and other gatherings. Accompanied by Ajloun Governor Nayef Hadayat and Zaha Cultural Center Executive Director Rania Subaih, the Royal Court Chief toured facilities of the hall that is associated with the Al-Ayoun Municipality. He also inaugurated an adjacent five-a-side football pitch, which was built concurrently with the hall through royal initiatives to serve local youth. Issawi stressed the importance of such facilities in nurturing young talent and providing a safe sporting environment. In Kufranja, Issawi checked first-hand on the progress of a housing project for low-income families, underscoring a keenness to offer suitable and decent housing for the most vulnerable families. The project is part of a larger initiative to construct 17 housing units across several areas of Ajloun, distributed according to Ministry of Social Development priorities. He noted that the project is about 80% complete, stressing the need to expedite work to ensure a timely delivery of homes to beneficiaries, according to His Majesty's vision, putting citizens and improving their standard of living above all other priorities. In 2022, construction of 1,300 new housing units was announced across various regions and rural areas, including 100 in Ajloun, which are implemented in multiple phases. The Royal Court Chief concluded his tour in Anjara, where he inspected a maintenance, rehabilitation, and furnishing project for buildings of the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain and the House of Mary, Mother of Hope, for Orphans, which is carried out under direct royal directives. He was briefed about construction and comprehensive maintenance work at the sites, which underscores that royal initiatives attach special attention to religious sites, particularly since the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain is a globally recognized Christian pilgrimage site. This reinforces its position as a strategic center for religious tourism on the local and international map, and a comprehensive spiritual destination attracting visitors from around the world. It also plays a humanitarian and social role in serving the local community through its orphanage, he said. In press remarks, Issawi stressed that the projects' primarily aim is to improve the quality of services, noting that the study and implementation processes are carried out in full coordination with relevant national institutions, ensuring their alignment with comprehensive development plans. //Petra//SS
