New York, April 22 (Petra) The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing on Wednesday evening on the situation in Syria, where members will be updated by the Secretariat on political, humanitarian, and child-related issues.

The Council is expected to hear briefings from Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Claudio Cordone, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher, and the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict , Vanessa Fraser.

The public briefing will be followed by closed-door consultations.
