34/ Jordan Customs warns of phishing scams targeting postal shipments
Amman, April 21 (Petra) -- The Jordan Customs Department issued a renewed warning on Tuesday to citizens and service users regarding fraudulent electronic messages and links circulating on social media and messaging platforms. The department clarified that it has not sent any text messages or emails concerning personal shipments or postal parcels. It described the current wave of communications as phishing attempts designed to steal personal data, urging the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid interacting with any suspicious links. Customs officials emphasized the importance of verifying the source of any message before engagement, noting a rise in fake accounts and individuals impersonating government employees to gain credibility. The department urged the public to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing sensitive information with untrusted sources. It emphasized that all official electronic services are available only through its official website and do not require any private data to be submitted through external links. This is part of their efforts to protect citizens from cyber theft and electronic fraud. //Petra// AF
