16/ Tafila governorate to implement JD1.8m road maintenance projects-GTM
Tafila, April 21 (Petra) – Greater Tafila Municipality (GTM) has embarked on implementing the first phase of a road rehabilitation, maintenance, and paving project in the Wadi Zeid, Al-Ais, Al-Hussein, and Aima areas, at a cost of approximately JD1.8 million dinars. The initiative is carried out within the governorate council's budget for the current year. In a statement Tuesday, the municipal committee's head, Dr. Mohammad Karimin, stated the municipality has started reconstructing a slew of secondary roads in its districts, particularly in hotspots that suffered cracks and subsidence due to erosion caused by the last rainy season. He called for completing the projects, in accordance with the specified timelines and the "highest quality" standards to ensure road longevity and improve level of services provided to citizens. Karimin said the Wadi Zeid region was given priority in the paving projects due to its population density. He noted the municipality has formed technical teams from its staff to implement service projects, mainly construction of retaining walls, stalls and pedestrian walkways. On its impact, he noted this effort would contribute to cutting costs and improving the level of services provided to citizens in the governorate's various areas. //Petra// AG
