Amman, April 19 (Petra) -- A joint investigation team has arrested a man for the murder of a friend whose disappearance was reported last Thursday in the Tafileh Governorate, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson announced on Sunday.

The investigation began after the victim’s family reported him missing under mysterious circumstances. A special task force tracked the victim's final movements and interactions, leading them to suspect one of his friends who was also a relative after confirming he was the last person seen with the missing individual.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He admitted that while the two were at a tourist lodge in a remote area, a sudden dispute erupted. The suspect struck the victim on the head with a stone, resulting in his death. To conceal the crime, the suspect then set the victim’s body on fire.

The PSD spokesperson stated that the suspect led authorities to the crime scene, where forensic evidence was recovered and secured. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court, who has ordered the suspect to be detained for 15 days at a correctional and rehabilitation center on charges of premeditated murder.
