Amman, April 19 (Petra) – Firefighting teams from the East Irbid Civil Defence Department responded to a fire that broke out at a chemical plant in Al-Hassan Industrial City in Irbid.

The Public Security Directorate media office stated that the fire began in a pesticide storage tank, triggering a blast and a flash fire in the surrounding area. Fourteen people sustained injuries, mostly cuts and bruises.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which affected an area of 25 square meters and brought it fully under control, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the two-story facility, which spans approximately 3,500 square meters.

He added that paramedics administered first aid to the injured before transporting them to the nearest hospital for further treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
