3/ Petra Authority Launches Tenders for Two Road Projects in Wadi Musa

Petra, April 16 (Petra) -- The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) has initiated tender procedures for two road projects in Wadi Musa, funded by a recent government allocation aimed at improving infrastructure and supporting tourism activity.

Authority Chief Commissioner Adnan Al-Sawair said the JD2 million allocation, approved by the Cabinet, will finance the development of Al-Dara Road in central Wadi Musa, which runs parallel to the tourist street, as well as an emergency road project in the Umm Sayhoun area.

He said one of the tenders has already been issued, while preparations are underway to complete documentation for the second tender, which is expected to be launched in the coming days.

Al-Sawair noted that the projects are part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure in Petra District and improve readiness for the next phase, particularly with a focus on stimulating tourism activity.

He added that upgrading the road network will improve traffic flow, especially in key areas, and support the movement of tourist groups, while the emergency road will form part of a ring road system in the region.

The projects are also expected to create job opportunities during implementation and support economic activity linked to tourism development, he said.
