Amman, April 16 (Petra) -- Jordan has approved a new regulation reducing fees for notary public services conducted electronically, as part of efforts to expand digital government services and improve service efficiency.

Justice Minister Bassam Al-Talhouni said the Cabinet approved the Notary Fees Regulation for 2026 during its session on April 14, introducing lower fees for transactions completed through electronic platforms, while maintaining existing fees for in-person services.

He said the fee reductions are designed to encourage citizens to use digital services, noting that the difference between electronic and traditional fees may range between 25% and 40%.

Al-Talhouni said the lower costs reflect reduced operational expenses, including paper and printing, facility usage, and energy consumption, in addition to easing congestion and speeding up service delivery.

The regulation will enter into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.
