51/ Palestinian Affairs Department marks Flag Day, highlights national unity

Amman, April 15 (Petra) -- Jordan’s Department of Palestinian Affairs (DoP) said on Wednesday that Jordan Flag Day, marked annually on April 16, represents a cherished national occasion that reflects the symbolism of the Jordanian flag as an emblem of sovereignty and dignity and a banner embodying the country’s history, unity, and development.

In a statement, the department said commemorating the occasion expresses great pride in national identity and reflects loyalty and belonging to the homeland and the Hashemite leadership, while recalling the enduring meanings carried by the flag as a symbol of unity and cohesion in the face of challenges and in the continued pursuit of progress and prosperity.

The DoP added that Flag Day reflects the strong unity around the national flag, which has long stood as a symbol of pride and honor and a unifying banner for all Jordanians, representing values of sacrifice, achievement, and dedication in serving the nation.

It said it shares in the celebrations across the country and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its national role in addressing issues within its mandate and contributing to comprehensive development, stressing that work and achievement are the highest expressions of genuine national belonging.

The department, represented by its Director General Rafik Khirfan and staff, extended congratulations on the occasion, expressing hope that Jordan will remain secure and stable and that the national flag will continue to fly high as a symbol of pride and dignity under His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.

It said Flag Day is not merely a ceremonial occasion but a national moment to reinforce shared values that unite Jordanians and to instill in future generations a sense of pride in their country and the need to preserve its achievements.
