Amman, April 14 (Petra) -Temperatures are set for a significant climb starting Tuesday, returning to seasonal averages as a mild spring air mass settles over the highlands and plains, while warmer conditions prevail across the rest of the country.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, moderate southeasterly winds will accompany the shift in weather.

The warming trend will intensify on Wednesday, bringing a further spike in mercury levels. Forecasts indicate warm conditions for the mountainous regions and relatively hot weather elsewhere, accompanied by medium and high-altitude cloud cover.

By Wednesday evening, light rain showers are possible in parts of the southeastern region. Winds are expected to pick up occasionally, likely triggering dust storms in the Badia.

The heat is projected to peak on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures soaring 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above the climatic norm for this time of year. During this period, the highlands will remain warm while the rest of the Kingdom experiences relatively hot to hot conditions.

Afternoon clouds may bring scattered light showers to eastern areas, while active southeasterly winds will continue to stir dust in open desert regions.

In the capital, Tuesday’s temperatures will reach a high of 25 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 23 degrees Celsius in West Amman, dropping to lows of 15 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius respectively.

The Northern Highlands will see a high of 21 degrees Celsius, while the Sharrah Highlands reach 22 degrees Celsius.

In the hotter regions, the Badia is expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius, and the plains will reach 26 degrees Celsius. The most intense heat will be felt in the Jordan Valley, with the northern areas hitting 31 degrees Celsius and the southern areas reaching 34 degrees Celsius.

The Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba will see highs of 33 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius respectively, with overnight lows remaining in the low 20s.
