32/ Jordanian adventurer scales Egypt’s Mount Serbal to promote bilateral ties

Amman, April 13 (Petra) -- Jordanian traveler Abdul Rahim Al-Arjan has successfully reached the summit of Mount Serbal in Egypt, marking the completion of a trekking expedition aimed at strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.

The climb was conducted under the banner "An Invitation from My Country – Jordan." Standing at approximately 2,070 meters, Mount Serbal is considered one of Egypt’s most prominent peaks after Mount Sinai. It is known for its rugged terrain and complex topography, offering a significant physical challenge for mountaineers.

The initiative, organized by the "iCamp" group and supervised by Egyptian explorer Hani Al-Khalili, was designed to reflect the close relations between Jordan and Egypt and to utilize adventure tourism as a medium for cultural exchange.

Al-Arjan described the three-day expedition as a unique logistical undertaking. Accompanied by local guides, he reached the summit on the second day, where he raised the Jordanian flag and the campaign’s official slogan. The itinerary also included a visit to the "Hanging Rock" area to document the natural landscape of the region.

The mountaineer has an extensive history of exploring the Sinai Peninsula, having previously completed the Bedouin Trail, treks through Saint Catherine, and the ascent of Mount Sinai. He has also documented the Path of the Holy Family, which is recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
