Amman, April 9 (Petra) -- The Jordanian-French Parliamentary Friendship Association, headed by Ibrahim Tarawneh, met on Thursday with French Ambassador Franck Gellet to discuss bilateral relations and review key regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Tarawneh said Jordanian-French relations are deep-rooted and built on firm foundations of mutual respect and ongoing coordination in ways that serve the interests of both countries and support regional stability.

He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the political, economic, investment, and education sectors, and of strengthening parliamentary and people-to-people engagement between the two sides.

He also reaffirmed Jordan's longstanding position in support of the Palestinian people's rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also called for intensified international efforts to halt escalation in the region and support efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in line with international legitimacy resolutions.

For their part, MPs Dina Bashir, Mustafa Amawi, and Nour Abu Ghosh stressed the importance of advancing Jordanian-French relations, particularly in the economic and investment fields, and broadening partnerships in ways that positively serve the interests of both countries and support development efforts.

The French ambassador expressed his country's pride in the level of relations with Jordan and France's keenness to further develop bilateral cooperation across various fields, praising Jordan's role in supporting regional security and stability and advancing peace efforts.
