57/ JPMC CEO Elected Head of Arab Fertilizers Association for 2026–2027
Amman, Sept 15 (Petra) – The Board of Directors of the Arab Fertilizers Association (AFA) has elected CEO of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Abdel Wahab Al-Rowad as president of the AFA for the 2026–2027 term. The election took place during a council meeting Monday in Morocco, attended by representatives from the industrial and agricultural sectors across the Arab world. Al-Rowad’s election reflects his significant contributions to enhancing the position and competitiveness of Jordan Phosphate Mines both regionally and globally, and the confidence in his ability to advance the Arab fertilizers sector. Last year, he was elected as AFA vice president and has represented Jordanian companies on the AFA's board for several years. He also received the union’s award for the Best Applied Scientific Research in the Arab World in 2023. Established in 1975 under the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU), the Arab Fertilizers Association is a non-governmental organization that aims to promote cooperation and develop the fertilizer industry in Arab countries by improving production, increasing efficiency, expanding markets, and focusing on research, development, and modern technology to achieve food security. The AFA includes 122 Arab and international companies from 33 countries working in fertilizer production, trade, and related fields. It provides members with opportunities to benefit from advances in scientific research and technology, strengthens agricultural production, and operates under the umbrella of the Arab League's CAEU. //Petra// AF
