19/ Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs: Jordan diplomacy reinforces Doha summit

Amman, Sept15 (Petra) – Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs Secretary-General Abdullah Kanaan said Monday that the unfolding situation and rapid developments in the Middle East and the world put the world, including political leaders and international and regional organizations, before a challenge that requires prompt action.

Such challenge portend difficult repercussions and dire consequences for international relations and global peace and security, he said in remarks to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).

Everyone is looking ahead with anticipation to the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Qatar to see decisions and executive outcomes that will set the stage for collective Arab and Islamic action to address threats facing the Arab nation, foremost of which are the Zionist schemes and policies of the far-right in Israeli, he said.

Kanaan said Jordan's role is highlighted by its tireless defense of Arab rights, top of which is the right of the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation of their land and halt its ongoing aggression against Jerusalem and Gaza, and the right to a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Jordan's diplomacy, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, the historic custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, has succeeded over the decades in conveying Palestinian rights and calling the world for peace and justice, he pointed out.

Since October 7, 2023, Kanaan said, Jordan has taken a robust role, on the political and humanitarian fronts, in support of the people of Gaza, Jerusalem, and all of Palestine.

The Kingdom has also taken part in forging a joint Arab, Islamic and international effort to clarify the truth about the genocide and injustice being perpetrated against the Palestinian people, forming a broad international force against Israeli policies.

The Doha conference, he said, represents a unanimous Arab and Islamic position that the dangers and challenges posed to the entire nation require a united stance in the face of the "barbaric Israeli aggression" and bring about peace and stability in the region.
