14/ Princess Basma Patronizes Mexican Folklore Show Marking 50 Years of Jordan-Mexico Ties
Amman, Sep. 15 (Petra) – Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal on Sunday evening patronized a Mexican folklore show organized by the Mexican Embassy in Amman for children from the Mabarrat Um al-Hussein charity and students of al-Raja School for the Deaf. The event marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Mexico and reflected ongoing cooperation between the Mexican Embassy and the Mabarrat Um al-Hussein charity through the annual Diplomatic Corps Bazaar. Princess Basma praised the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Mexico and commended the Mexican Embassy’s sustained support for the Charity, enabling it to provide quality care and educational services to its beneficiaries and nurture a brighter future for the children. She underscored the importance of folklore in showcasing cultures, values, and traditions, noting its role as a living expression of heritage and authenticity. She also highlighted the significance of the annual diplomatic bazaar in Amman in promoting intercultural understanding and solidarity. For his part, Mexican Ambassador to Amman Jacob Prado stressed that cultural exchange has been a cornerstone of Jordan-Mexico relations for five decades, serving as a bridge for mutual understanding and appreciation of each nation’s heritage. Prado commended the Mabarrat Um al-Hussein charity for its pivotal role in improving the lives of vulnerable children and reaffirmed the Mexican Embassy’s commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian values.
