  27/ Justice Minister discusses human rights with US officials  

Amman, September 14 (Petra) – Justice Minister Bassam Talhouni met on Sunday with US Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour officials to discuss cooperation and human rights issues.

The discussion focused on the Ministry of Justice's efforts to update human rights legislation and advance judicial reforms in accordance with international standards.

The meeting addressed Jordan's commitment to combating human trafficking, as Talhouni said that the Kingdom sees combating trafficking a national priority, with continuous improvements to legislation and enhanced capacity-building for agencies tasked with prosecuting offenders.

He said the government is committed to protecting and supporting human trafficking victims, facilitating their reintegration and upholding their dignity.

Talhouni added that Jordan is also committed to international standards and collaboration with the global community to bolster these efforts.

The meeting included representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labour and the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
