16/ PDTRA Chairperson Visits Batha Families Amid Water, Transport Challenges

Petra, Sep. 14 (Petra) – The Chairperson of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Fares Braizat, on Sunday inspected the conditions of families living in the Batha area, southwest of Petra, outside the boundaries of the archaeological reserve. These families face significant challenges, including limited access to transportation and shortages of water.

During his tour, Braizat was briefed on the difficult living conditions of the families, who still reside in tents. He listened to their urgent needs and daily circumstances.

Braizat underlined that the PDTRA views serving the local community as a humanitarian responsibility before an administrative duty, noting that these families receive special attention and will be directly monitored by the Authority.

He directed that regular transportation be provided to transport students to and from school on a daily basis, along with the periodic provision of water tankers to alleviate the families’ hardships.

Braizat stressed that the PDTRA will continue working with government agencies and civil society organizations to secure more sustainable solutions, underscoring that citizens’ dignity and right to a decent life remain priorities that cannot be compromised.
