7/ Jordan welcomes UNGA for adopting resolution supporting New York Declaration on two-state solution's implementation

Amman, Sept. 12 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs welcomed the UN General Assembly's passage of a resolution supporting the "New York Declaration" on the establishment of a Palestinian state and the application of the two-state solution. The creation of an independent state founded on the two-state solution is the most significant step toward achieving the rights of the Palestinian people.

The UN General Assembly's adoption of the "New York Declaration," which reaffirms the international will to support the two-state solution as the only means of ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region, was welcomed by the Kingdom, according to Ministry Spokesperson Fuad Majali.

During the United Nations High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which was co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France and took place at the UN headquarters in New York last July, Majali commended their efforts.

He said that all nations have the chance to support the recognition of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, at the next UN meeting, which is a continuation of the conference.
