23/ Mining Partnership Council Discusses Sector Development, Investment Incentives

Amman, Sep. 11 (Petra) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh chaired a Mining Partnership Council meeting with private sector representatives on Thursday to review developments in the sector, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision 2026-2029.

Kharabsheh emphasized that the mining sector, identified as a driver of high-value industries in the Economic Modernization Vision, requires close public-private collaboration to develop strategic plans that enhance its contribution to the Kingdom’s Gross Domestic Product.

He urged participants to review Natural Resources Law No. 19 of 2018 and provide feedback aligned with the Economic Vision’s objectives, while ensuring attractive investment incentives. Kharabsheh also called for a review of the financial incentive system to attract higher-quality investments.

Kharabsheh highlighted the ministry’s openness to private sector initiatives, stressing the importance of establishing a specialized research and development center for natural ores, as well as a national mineral testing laboratory operated in partnership with private entities to reduce reliance on external testing.

Private sector representatives welcomed the ministry’s efforts to strengthen partnerships and noted mining’s key role in supporting the national economy and creating job opportunities. They also commended the ministry for regular Council meetings and urged implementation of proposed initiatives in accordance with Jordanian legislation.
