45/ Sharjah Ruler Opens International Government Communication Forum
Sharjah, Sept 10 (Petra) – Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated on Wednesday the 14th edition of the International Government Communication Forum, held at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme "Communication for Quality of Life." The two-day event, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, brings together more than 237 speakers from around the world. In his opening remarks, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, highlighted the emirate’s vision under the leadership of Sheikh Dr. Sultan, which places people at the center of development, culture as the basis of communication, and values as a compass for progress and sustainability. "Since the forum’s inception, we have believed that communication that does not elevate people and their realities is incomplete," he said, noting that each edition has focused on pillars that advanced government communication practices. "This year, we speak of communication for quality of life," he added, stressing that quality of life is built not only through laws but also through trust and dialogue that bring institutions closer to people and make them part of decision-making. In a session titled "From Family Awareness to Community Solidarity," Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, spoke about her early initiatives, including the founding of Al Montazah Girls Club, which provided a safe space for young women to develop talents and practice sports, producing generations of accomplished leaders. She also highlighted the "Rubu’ Qarn" project, encompassing 31 centers with more than 30,000 members, and her humanitarian work as the first-ever UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, including initiatives in Jordan’s Zaatari camp, Gaza, and Kenya. The opening ceremony featured the UAE national anthem, video presentations on sustainability and community well-being, and a film showcasing Sheikha Jawaher’s humanitarian and developmental initiatives for children and youth. Among the attendees were senior members of the Sharjah ruling family, UAE ministers, government officials, and media professionals. //Petra// AF
