40/ Princess Sumaya University Teams Win 1st, 4th Place at Arab Cybersecurity Wargames
Amman, Sept 10 (Petra) – Two teams from Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) claimed first and fourth place, with the gold medal, at the ninth edition of the Arab Security Cyber Wargames held in Cairo as part of the Arab Cybersecurity Conference. The finals witnessed intense competition, with PSUT’s first team comprised of Ahmad Obeidat, Hamza Nour, Youssef Nehiya, Basel Tahboub, and Ziad Al-Sharif, under the supervision of Mohammad Ababneh winning first place and securing the gold medal. The university’s second team Hamza Abdul Mahdi, Ahmad Alawneh, Muhannad Hmoud, Mohammad Yassin, and Hashem Al-Aqili also delivered a strong performance, finishing fourth. University President Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in the students’ achievement, calling their first- and fourth-place finish at the Arab Security Cyber Wargames 2025 a milestone at one of the region’s most prominent cybersecurity competitions. She highlighted that PSUT’s teams represented Jordan after excelling in qualification rounds that involved 2,047 participants across 426 teams from 25 countries. Only 10 teams advanced to the final stage in Cairo. Abu Elhaija said the achievement reflects the high caliber and technical competence of PSUT students in meeting advanced challenges, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and providing all necessary support to ensure students remain at the forefront of technology and cybersecurity. Mohammad Ababneh, head of the Cybersecurity Department and supervisor of the Cybersecurity Club, praised the students’ dedication and outstanding performance. He thanked the university leadership Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and Abu Elhaija for their continued support and encouragement, stressing that this success demonstrates PSUT’s advanced standing in cybersecurity education and its role as a pioneering academic institution in Jordan, the region, and globally. //Petra// AF
