39/ Jordan Launches National Heritage Preservation, Documentation Campaign
Amman, Sept 10 (Petra) – The Ministry of Culture on Wednesday announced the launch of a national campaign to preserve and document heritage under the slogan, "Donate a Heritage Piece, Build a Museum, Preserve a Legacy." The ministry called on heritage enthusiasts and collectors to support the creation of cultural heritage museums across all governorates of the Kingdom. Culture Minister Mustafa Rawashdeh said in a ministry statement that the heritage items sought through the campaign will help immortalize the national memory and safeguard traditions for future generations. He stressed the importance of protecting Jordan’s heritage, which he described as an expression of identity and civilization, a record of daily life, and testimony to the lives of ancestors. "Museums are cultural landmarks and registers of diversity, showcasing the creativity and adaptability of the Jordanian people," he said, noting that donated pieces will be recorded in a special registry, with donors’ names attached to preserve ownership rights. The campaign, he added, reflects the ministry’s belief in its cultural and national responsibility toward heritage items as tools for safeguarding collective memory and preserving generational identity. These artifacts, he said, are living witnesses to history, carrying stories of past lives and values that shaped the present. Preserving such heritage, Rawashdeh emphasized, will give future generations an opportunity to connect with their roots, fostering pride in cultural legacy and respect for the achievements of their forebears. //Petra// AF
