35/ UN warns of consequences amid Israeli escalation in Gaza
New York, September 10 (Petra) – The Humanitarian Task Force operating in the occupied Palestinian territory has issued a stark warning about the dangerous Israeli escalation unfolding in Gaza City. Israeli occupation forces have intensified their operations and ordered all residents to relocate southward. The Task Force, which comprises UN agencies alongside more than 200 local and international non-governmental organisations, highlighted on Wednesday that the escalation follows the recent confirmation of famine conditions in Gaza City and surrounding areas. While the Israeli authorities have unilaterally declared a "humanitarian zone" in the south, the Task Force criticised the lack of effective measures to ensure the safety of those being forced to move. Emphasising urgent humanitarian needs, the Task Force called for expanded access, including safe and direct routes to both northern and southern areas, as well as the reopening of fuel and water supplies. It urged the international community to take immediate action, demanding a ceasefire and strict adherence to international humanitarian law. In a message to families in Gaza, the Task Force reassured that the humanitarian community remains committed to staying in Gaza City for as long as possible. They pledged to continue providing life-saving relief and services throughout the Strip despite the ongoing challenges. //Petra// AK
