68/ Qatar PM: Israel's attack threatens regional security and is an unacceptable act of treachery

Amman, Sept 9 (Petra) – Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Tuesday condemned an Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as an act of state terrorism.

Speaking at a press conference, Al Thani affirmed that Qatar will not tolerate any violation of its sovereignty and reserves the right to respond to the brazen assault. He characterized the attack as an attempt to destabilize regional security and warned that any breach of Qatar’s territory would be met with decisive action.

Al Thani criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that his actions are driving the region toward irreparable levels of conflict. He stressed that the attack violates not only international law but also ethical standards, calling it an act of treachery.

The Qatari official described the attack as a warning to the region about rogue actors whose actions must not be ignored, emphasizing that international law and norms should guide the response.

Regarding ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, Al Thani noted that talks had been proceeding intensively at the request of the U.S., and that Qatar had made every effort to facilitate them. However, following the Israeli attack, no active negotiations are ongoing, and any attempt to achieve peace has been undermined.

Authorities in Qatar immediately responded to the incident, assessing casualties and injuries, while a legal team has been formed to take appropriate measures in response to the attack.
