New York, Sept 9 (Petra) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday called for a comprehensive investigation into recent events in Nepal.

In a statement issued on his behalf, Guterres said he is closely following the situation in Nepal and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

He urged restraint to prevent further escalation of violence and called on authorities to comply with international human rights law.

The Secretary-General emphasized that protests should be conducted peacefully, with respect for life and property, and called for dialogue to establish a constructive path forward.
