Sharjah, Sept 9 (Petra) – Jordan will on Wednesday join the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme "Communication for Quality of Life." According to a statement from the organizers on Tuesday, the program features more than 110 events across five main tracks: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability and the green economy. The forum, inaugurated under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the UAE Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, will host around 237 speakers from around the world. Its 51 panel discussions will address the future of food security, health, education, green economy and sustainability issues, alongside seven keynote speeches delivered by global leaders and decision-makers. The forum also offers 22 practical workshops, giving participants opportunities for direct interaction with experts and sharing experiences. It will conclude with the announcement of winners of the Sharjah Government Communication Award, which honors innovation and excellence in communication worldwide. Zaki Nusseibeh, cultural adviser to the UAE president and chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, said the university’s participation included organizing the fourth edition of the "Universities Challenge" and holding specialized panel sessions. Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, chairman of Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations, said government communication served as a bridge linking people and decision-makers on the basis of participation and mutual respect. He added that the forum’s strategic partnerships embodied this principle in practice. Mohammed Khalaf, director-general of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, said the event carried a distinctive dimension by presenting a comprehensive vision that underscored the role of communication in improving quality of life. He noted this year’s focus on issues central to daily living, such as food security, the green economy and environmental sustainability.
