34/ Amman Marathon Kicks Off October 17, Proceeds to Support Gaza
Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- The 15th edition of the Bromine Amman Marathon is set to launch on Friday, October 17, under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas bin Ra'ad, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Run Jordan. The children's race will precede it on Friday, October 10, at Al Hussein Gardens. Held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman," this year's marathon has a humanitarian focus. Twenty percent of registration fees will be donated to support the people of Gaza through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. An additional 20 percent of the association's subscription fees will be allocated to the Medical Aid For Palestinian. Lina Kurd, Director General at Run Jordan, emphasized the marathon's role in conveying a societal message alongside its status as a global sporting event. She highlighted the support from various partners, including the main sponsor, Jordan Bromine, and gold sponsor, Arab Bank. Silver sponsors include the Potash and Phosphate Companies, with Zain as the telecommunications partner and Ghadeer as the official water supplier. Kurd also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Greater Amman Municipality, the Public Security Directorate, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Jordan Athletics Federation, and the Ministries of Education, Health, and Tourism. The marathon will feature several races starting from Hashemite Square, including the 42.195 km individual and relay marathons, the 21 km half marathon for individuals and people with special needs, and the 10 km race for individuals and people with special needs. The children's race, for ages 6 to 14, will be held at the Al Hussein Gardens Football Stadium. Safety for runners is a top priority, ensured through cooperation with civil society organizations like the Health Call Society and the Jordan Red Crescent Society, in addition to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers. //Petra// NQ
