Amman, Sep. 9 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing and Chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Maher Abu Saman and Bahraini Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amna bint Ahmed Rumaihi on Tuesday signed an executive program aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise. The program builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2006, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing housing cooperation, activating institutional coordination frameworks, and implementing projects that support sustainable development. It focuses on exchanging expertise, data, and research in housing, sustainable urban development, land policies, and planning standards. The program also covers private sector participation in social housing projects, management of urban communities, development of heritage areas, standards for model cities, and the exchange of geographic and statistical information. Key initiatives include forming joint working groups, organizing training programs and workshops, conducting applied research, developing financing policies for affordable housing, and exchanging studies on land use in urban and rural areas. Amman and Manama emphasized the importance of strengthening technical and institutional cooperation in housing and urban planning and developing mechanisms for joint action to achieve sustainable development goals. They agreed to follow up on the program’s implementation through specialized working groups and to continue coordination meetings to monitor progress and expand cooperation. //Petra// AJ
