21/ Senate Committee, Chinese Diplomat Discuss Ties
Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra)-- The Jordanian-Chinese Friendship Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, met on Tuesday with Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Jordan Gong Anmin to discuss ways to enhance relations between Jordan and China in various fields, particularly parliamentary, economic, investment, and tourism cooperation. Murad highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries, stressing the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation and maintaining communication and coordination on issues of mutual concern. He pointed to the committee’s recent visit to China, which bolstered parliamentary, economic, and cultural cooperation and opened broader horizons for bilateral partnership. He also praised China’s support for the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He underscored China’s significant role in supporting the global economy and reaffirmed Jordan’s interest in benefiting from Chinese expertise in investment, infrastructure, and technology, while working to enhance cooperation across sectors to meet the aspirations of both countries and peoples. He also called for increased Chinese investments in Jordan, particularly in major strategic projects, noting Jordan’s attractive investment climate and strategic location as a gateway to the region. For his part, the Chinese diplomat described Jordanian-Chinese relations as strategic and steadily growing in parliamentary, economic, educational, and cultural fields. He commended His Majesty King Abdullah II’s efforts to strengthen regional security and stability, as well as Jordan’s humanitarian role in delivering aid and medical assistance to Gaza. He expressed his country’s commitment to advancing relations to new levels by promoting economic cooperation, expanding Chinese investments in Jordan, supporting Jordan’s development and food security plans, and holding industrial and trade exhibitions in both countries. Committee members stressed the importance of parliamentary visits between the two sides to positively impact joint cooperation and serve the shared interests of both nations.
