  19/ Tafilah-Karak road rehabilitation 65% complete

Tafilah, Sept. 9 (Petra) – The Tafilah Public Works Directorate on Tuesday announced that 65 percent of the Tafilah-Karak Road rehabilitation project has been completed.

The JD1.9 million project covers 17.5 kilometers of the Royal Highway and is expected to wrap up before the end of the year, according to Directorate Director Ammar Hajjaj.

He said the project includes road rehabilitation, asphalt paving, road widening, and traffic safety measures such as signage, markings, and side guards. The road, frequently used by tourist groups, connects several southern governorates and is considered a vital tourist and transport route.

Hajjaj detailed that the project is among the key infrastructure initiatives designed to enhance the main segments of the Muluki Highway. It was announced during a recent Cabinet session in Tafilah as part of efforts to modernize the road network, reduce hazardous turns, and limit traffic accidents.
