18/ Hashemite University, Queen's University Belfast sign academic cooperation MoU
Zarqa, Sep. 9 (Petra) - The Hashemite University (HU) and Queen's University Belfast on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing academic and educational cooperation, expanding partnerships in the higher education and scientific research fields, and exchanging expertise. According to a HU statement on Tuesday, HU's Vice President Dr. Khaled Abu-Elteen and Queen's University Belfast Vice President for Research and Enterprise Dr. Archie Clements signed the memo. Under the memo, the two universities would enhance communication and cooperation among their academic departments and research centers. The two sides would also exchange visits for faculty members and graduate students for study, research, and teaching purposes, transfer academic and scientific information, and implement joint research-related activities. Within the MoU's framework, a special annex for academic cooperation in the dentistry field was signed by Dean of HU Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Ziad Duwairi, and Director of International Supervision at School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen's University Belfast, Dr. Gerry McKenna. The annex covers several cooperation areas, mainly providing opportunities for HU's students to obtain a doctorate in dentistry from Queen's University Belfast, enhance research collaboration, and hold training programs for HU's postgraduate students. Additionally, the document features steps to enable dental students to apply for competitive summer scholarships through research centers at Queen's University Belfast, as well as enhancing cooperation and exchange of joint educational expertise. //Petra// AG
