14/ Industry Chambers Chair Hails Cabinet Decision on Electricity Supply Costs

Amman, Sep. 9 (Petra) – Chairperson of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbeer on Tuesday commended the Cabinet’s decision to amend the approved criteria for electricity supply through the rural fils, a move aimed at supporting factories and reducing production costs both inside and outside industrial cities.

In a statement, Jaghbeer highlighted the efforts of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and Chairperson of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission Ziad Sa'aideh in facilitating the decision, noting its role in bolstering national industry and enhancing competitiveness.

He explained that the measure complements earlier government decisions facilitating electricity supply to factories within industrial cities as well as to facilities outside regulatory areas. The decision also extends support to existing factories seeking expansion and to new factories under establishment, reducing supply costs through the rural fils. According to Jaghbeer, this will encourage industrial growth, create jobs, and increase production capacity in the sector.

Jaghbeer detailed that such policies incentivize investors and industrialists to broaden and develop their production lines without additional burdens, further attracting investment into the industrial sector.

He stressed that the decision underscores the government’s recognition of the importance of strengthening the competitiveness of national industry in both local and export markets, in addition to its vital role in supporting the national economy and employing Jordanian workers. He added that the government’s ongoing measures align with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision and reflect its commitment to advancing Jordanian industry.
