20/ Jordan field hospitals in Gaza continue services
Amman, Sept 8 (Petra) – Jordanian field hospitals in the north and south of the Gaza Strip continued providing medical services amid the difficult humanitarian conditions imposed by Israel's ongoing war, as part of the Kingdom's efforts under royal directives to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. Since its deployment in Khan Younis in the south of the enclave, the Jordanian Field Hospital Gaza/7 has received 30,226 patients, performed 1,647 major and minor surgeries, and admitted 665 cases requiring surgical intervention. The hospital has 36 beds, two operating theaters, and an intensive care unit (ICU). The North Gaza/83 Hospital has been carrying out its humanitarian task since August 12, receiving 12,623 patients and providing comprehensive medical services, including emergency medical services, surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, internal medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology, in addition to the emergency and radiology units and a laboratory. The 40-bed facility contributes to the huge medical effort despite population density and a growing need for treatment. In a unique humanitarian gesture, the Royal Medical Services launched the "Restoring Hope - Artificial Limbs" royal initiative in September, 2024, offering 589 upper and lower prosthetic limbs to wounded civilians. Staff of the South Gaza/7 Hospital recently responded to a distress call from a 40-year-old Palestinian woman with a mobility disability from osteoporosis and calcium deficiency. Urgent medical care was provided, despite a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies. These efforts are an embodiment of the Jordan Armed Forces' humanitarian role that underlines the Kingdom's support of humanitarian causes and the Palestinian people in the midst of the tough humanitarian conditions in Gaza. //Petra//SS
