  22/ World Bank to finance nuclear medicine factory in Jordan

Amman, Sep. 7 (Petra) –Head of the Senate's Health, Environment and Population Committee, Yassin Husban, announced a partnership agreement will be signed with the World Bank to begin implementing a radiopharmaceuticals factory project in Jordan.

During a meeting held Sunday at the Senate's headquarters, he added that the project is currently presented by a specialized Jordanian medical team, headed by Dr. Hazem Haboub.

In the presence of the specialized medical team, he noted the World Bank's approval to finance the factory project came after "unrelenting and continuous" efforts made by Senate President Faisal Fayez and its health committee.

Husban stated the Senate's efforts stem from its national responsibility to advance the national economy and support entrepreneurial projects.

Under the Senate President's directives, he noted the Senate is "keen to provide the necessary support to all Jordanian investors and overcome the obstacles facing them in cooperation with relevant authorities."

In turn, Dr. Haboub and the team's members indicated that the pharmaceutical factory project is "the first of its kind in Jordan and the Middle East, and its products are designed to treat various cancers and diagnose using nuclear medicine."

Haboub said the World Bank's approval of the project's funding came after four years of studies and consultations, which would achieve a "qualitative" shift in the Kingdom's helath field that adds to the country's decades-long medical excellence in various relevant fields and specialties.
