27/ UNRWA: 300,000 students resume online classes in Gaza

New York, October 28 (Petra) – Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini announced on Tuesday that the agency has launched online classes to reach 300,000 children in the Gaza Strip.

Lazzarini said UNRWA is working to expand its "Back to Learning" programme in Gaza, both through in-person and online modalities. He noted that more than 25,000 children have already enrolled in the "temporary learning spaces" established by the agency, adding that efforts are underway to increase the number of these facilities.

He said that literacy and education are vital in countering despair and psychological trauma, stating, "None of this would be possible without the thousands of UNRWA teachers, who demonstrate every day that the agency continues to fulfill its mission."
