17/ JREEEF concludes green finance training for Jordan's northern municipalities
Amman, Oct. 28 (Petra) – The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Tuesday wrapped up a green finance training course, part of a series of capacity-building programs for municipal employees in Jordan's northern governorates. According to a ministry statement, the course is part of the project for installing solar energy systems in Jordan's municipalities, funded by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and the JREEEF. The program, launched at Irbid Municipality, provides training on green finance, project management, and communication for 500 municipal employees over six months to enhance their skills in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Talking at the closing ceremony, JREEEF CEO, Rasmi Hamzeh, said the training activities aim to ensure the sustainability of photovoltaic solar systems to be installed on municipal buildings, reducing energy bills and carbon emissions. Hamzeh noted the course seeks to raise awareness of renewable energy’s importance, provide participants with technical and economic knowledge on energy efficiency and sustainable environmental solutions, and promote local development and job creation in the energy sector. Hamzeh added that this course is part of the first phase of the municipality training program, commending Green Tech Company for developing high-quality training materials that enhance participants’ efficiency and align with municipal work needs. Concluding the course, certificates of participation were presented to participating municipal employees in recognition of their "active" engagement. On the sidelines of the event, a meeting was held between Hamzeh and Deputy Mayor of Greater Irbid Municipality Imad Naddaf to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and local development, as well as prospects for future joint projects that support sustainable development. Experts from Green Tech for Sustainable Development delivered the training program. //Petra// NQ
