21/ Ministry: Mujib Dam Ecology Normal, No Signs of Pollution
Amman, Oct. 13 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Environment confirmed Monday that environmental conditions at Mujib Dam are normal, and no unusual odors or signs of pollution have been detected. The ministry said in a statement that it immediately introduced follow-up procedures in coordination with concerned bodies after reports of fish deaths in the dam on Sunday. Water samples were collected for laboratory testing at the Royal Scientific Society and Aqaba International Laboratories, with results confirming the dam’s environmental status is "completely normal," it said. The ministry’s field teams have carried out inspections since Sunday, covering all dam inlets, outlets, and surrounding areas, while collecting additional water samples, it added. A limited number of small dead fish was found, and samples were taken for further laboratory analysis, the ministry said, adding that results will be announced once available. The ministry stressed it will continue to monitor the situation regularly in coordination with relevant agencies to ensure the integrity of the dam’s ecosystem and maintain water quality. //Petra// AO
