15/ GAM responded to 29 reports during recent downpour in Amman

Amman, November 26 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Wednesday announced it responded to 29 reports submitted to Tla'a Al-Ali Emergency Operations Center during the recent air depression.

In a statement, the GAM's official spokesperson, Nasser Rahamneh, stated most cases reported overflowing sewage drains and rainwater accumulation in several locations due to the heavy rainfall over a short period.

Rahamneh added that the GAM 's field teams and equipment dealt with all reports sent to the operations center and took the "necessary measures immediately."

In one case, he cited rainwater accumulation in Amman's Shmeisani area caused by connecting roof gutters to the sewage network, which was addressed in cooperation with Miyahuna Water Company.

Crews also dealt with water accumulations in Amman's Shafa Badran neighborhood caused by soil erosion, as well as similar incidents in the Zaytouna Tunnel on Airport Road, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Works, he pointed out.

The GAM declared a moderate state of emergency on Tuesday to deal with the weather condition, confirming its crews' "readiness" to respond to any reports submitted to the emergency operations center.

The GAM urged citizens to contact the unified call center at 102 and 117180 to report any issues.
