32/ Jordan joins in meetings of Permanent Committee for Arab Media in Cairo

Cairo, November 25 (Petra) -- Jordan participated in the 103rd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media and in the preparatory meetings for the Executive Bureau gathering of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held in advance of the Council’s 55th regular session scheduled for Wednesday.

Alaa Zyoud, Jordan's representative on the Committee, reaffirmed during the meetings held at the offices of the General Secretariat of the Arab League Jordan's support for all efforts aimed at strengthening joint Arab media cooperation, enhancing its mechanisms, and broadening its horizons.

He discussed the initiatives, projects, strategies and proposed media plans presented by Jordan through the Ministry of Government Communication and various official media institutions.

The initiatives, he noted, have been well received across the Arab world, particularly in the areas of media and information literacy, strategies for engaging with international media companies, Arab media outreach abroad and digital diplomacy.

Participants including representatives of Arab states, the Arab League's media and communication sector and observer media organisations and bodies accredited to the Council of Arab Information Ministers reviewed the Committee's agenda items before submitting them, with recommendations, to the Executive Bureau and then to the Council.

The agenda covered several key topics: the role of Arab media in supporting the Palestinian cause; updates on the Arab media action plan abroad; the website of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media; the role of Arab media in combating terrorism; the Arab media roadmap for Sustainable Development 2030; and environmental media.

The meeting discussed progress on negotiations with international media companies, ongoing efforts to promote environmental media literacy, enhancing media quality and professional standards, strengthening the capabilities of Arab media professionals and determining the date and venue for the next regular session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
