15/ Rummana Campground Closes for Winter Season, Reopens Next March
Dana, Nov. 24 (Petra) – The Rummana Campground in the Dana Biosphere Reserve has closed to local and international tourists following the end of its tourism and environmental season due to the region’s cold weather. The reserve’s management concluded the camp’s activities for the year and plans to reopen to visitors next March. Tourism activity in the area typically declines during winter months because of the severe cold. Reserve Director Raed Khawaldeh said the camp’s closure coincides with the end of its annual season, noting that the winter period allows for environmental maintenance, restoration, and rehabilitation to ensure readiness for the upcoming season. He added that the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature continues to develop the camp, having added around 30 new tourist tents designed to blend with the natural environment and equipped with essential amenities. The camp also provides sanitary facilities, public services, tour guides, traditional meals, and other accommodation needs. Covering an area of approximately 300 square kilometers, the Dana Reserve is one of Jordan’s most significant natural reserves, distinguished by its rich biodiversity and variety of plant and animal species. //Petra// AJ
