25/ FM, Omani counterpart talk ties, regional developments
Muscat, November 23 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held extensive talks in Muscat on Sunday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and the region's developments. The two FMs also went over expanding Jordanian-Omani cooperation in several vital sectors, including investment, trade, tourism, education, and mining. The two ministers reviewed preparations for the twelfth round of meetings of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, which will be hosted by Muscat. In this context, the duo said this process includes agreements and memoranda of understanding currently being drafted for signing during the committee meetings to "institutionalize" mutual economic cooperation and broaden its scope. The two sides affirmed their "shared commitment" to develop the "deep-rooted and brotherly" bilateral relations in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Safadi reiterated Jordan's congratulations to the Sultanate of Oman on its National Day, celebrated on November 20, expressing wishes for continued progress and achievement under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Safadi also commended Oman's "important" role in strengthening pan-Arab cooperation and promoting the region's security and stability. The two sides called for bolstering the ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the immediate and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip, facilitating reconstruction efforts, preventing further displacement, and launching a genuine process to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. Additionally, they discussed the dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, stressing the necessity of halting illegal Israeli measures that perpetuate the Isreali occupation and undermine the two-state solution and the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace. On future steps, the two ministers agreed to maintain joint cooperation and coordination regarding the development of bilateral relations and issues of common interest. Safadi arrived in Oman today for a working visit, during which he will participate in the Muscat Mediation Retreat. //Petra// AG
